Morocco Tours Compared: Marrakech Balloon Rides, the Agafay Desert, Sahara Trips to Merzouga, Atlas Day Trips, Fes and Casablanca (Viator vs GetYourGuide vs Klook)
Viator prices and ratings come from Viator's partner data, and GetYourGuide's from its listing pages, all read between about 6:20 and 6:35 PM Pacific time on Oct 26. Many GetYourGuide prices were shown as discounts. Klook blocks automated checks, so we link the Klook listings we found without a price. "From" means the lowest date, option or tent level, which can leave out meals, entry fees, pickup, extras or tips. Prices are in US dollars as shown; GetYourGuide rounds to the dollar. Always confirm the live price for your dates before you book.
Morocco came up more than any other destination we haven't covered recently in the past day's travel questions: a group planning eight days from Casablanca to Marrakech and the desert, a traveler with a day and a half in Fes, and people asking about hiking trips and sunrise balloon flights. Many of the most popular things to book, from balloon flights to the Ouzoud Falls day trip and 3-day Sahara trips, are sold by the same local companies on Viator and GetYourGuide, often with a similar listing on Klook. We matched 25 of them so you can compare before you book.
The short answer
- GetYourGuide had the lowest "from" price in 12 of 25 rows. The biggest gaps were the one-way desert trips by Marrakech City Life, like the Marrakech to Fes tour ($104 vs $227.58), and the Marrakech Dream Ballooning flight ($67 vs $148.67). Ando Travel's 3-day Merzouga trip was $110 vs $137.24.
- Viator was cheaper in 12 rows, usually by less than $15, like the Essaouira day trip ($11.67 vs $17), the street food tour by night ($35.00 vs $48) and the 2-day Zagora tour ($64.04 vs $70).
- 1 row tied: the Medina Stories food tour was $55 on both.
- Klook has a similar listing in 24 of 25 rows, such as a 3-day Merzouga tour and an Ouzoud hike and boat ride, but we couldn't confirm any Klook prices.
What the "from" price leaves out
- Options: balloon listings like Marrakech By Air's include a cheaper no-flight option, and Agafay packages like this one on Viator list the shared quad as an upgrade.
- Entry fees: the Bahia Palace and Saadian Tombs tour doesn't include the 100-dirham entry to each, and the Casablanca day from Marrakech doesn't include the mosque ticket (14 euros).
- Lunch: desert trips like the 3-day Merzouga tour include breakfast and dinner but not lunch, and day trips like the Ait Ben Haddou day don't include lunch.
- Guides: some day trips are mostly transport with a driver, like the Chefchaouen day from Fes, which doesn't include a local guide.

Viator's listing includes hotel pickup, breakfast, drinks and a flight certificate; tips are extra. Klook sells a similar sunrise balloon flight.
You'll also see much lower balloon prices, like from $11 for Marrakech By Air's balloon listing on GetYourGuide (4.8 from 16,308 reviews) or from $28.59 for the same company on Viator (4.8 from 1,482 reviews). Viator's listing includes a "no flight, just views" option, so treat those prices as the cheapest option on the page, not the price of a flight. Pick your option and check the total before you compare. We left these listings out of the table for that reason.
Agafay Desert: quad, camel and dinner
Lowest "from" price we saw: Amazouz Morocco Tours' quad, camel and dinner package on Viator, from $13.72 (5.0 from 14,650 reviews), against from $21 for the most-reviewed Agafay quad, camel and dinner package on GetYourGuide (4.8 from 46,370 reviews). They're sold by different companies. On Viator's listing the camel ride is about 20 minutes, and the shared quad bike is listed as an upgrade, so the "from" price may not include the quad. Another popular option is Berber Tours & Adventures' Agafay evening, from $21 on GetYourGuide (4.8 from 6,053 reviews). Klook has a similar quad, camel and dinner package.
Atlas Mountains and the Ourika Valley
Lowest "from" price we saw: an Ourika Valley, waterfalls and lunch day on GetYourGuide, from $10 (4.9 from 8,927 reviews), against from $16.13 for a similar Ourika day with a riverside lunch on Viator (4.8 from 5,414 reviews). The two listings are by different companies. Klook sells a similar Ourika Valley day.
For more walking, Tours From Marrakech's full-day Atlas hike with lunch was from $23 on GetYourGuide (4.8 from 8,232 reviews). On Viator, the closest match is a full-day Atlas Mountains and Three Valleys tour by a different company, from $21.73 (5.0 from 2,986 reviews). Klook has an Ourika and Atlas day with lunch.
Ouzoud Falls

If you only have two days, Zagora is closer. Lowest "from" price we saw: Marrakesh Travel Services' 2-day Zagora tour on Viator, from $64.04 (4.6 from 767 reviews), against from $70 for the same listing on GetYourGuide (4.5 from 2,361 reviews). Ando Travel's Zagora trip with meals was from $80 on GetYourGuide (4.5 from 1,181 reviews), against from $101.78 on Viator (4.5 from 335 reviews). Klook has a similar 2-day Zagora trip.
Marrakech City Life also sells the desert as a one-way trip between Marrakech and Fes. Its Marrakech to Fes tour was from $104 on GetYourGuide (4.8 from 1,525 reviews), against from $227.58 on Viator (4.9 from 6,755 reviews). The Fes to Marrakech direction was from $104 (4.7 from 984 reviews), against from $217.29 on Viator (4.8 from 1,318 reviews). Viator lists three tent levels for the Marrakech to Fes trip, so compare the same tent level on both sites. Klook has a similar Marrakech to Fes tour.

Lowest "from" price we saw: Marrakech Guided Experience's souks walk on GetYourGuide, from $20 (4.7 from 3,132 reviews), against from $25.00 for the same walk on Viator (4.6 from 614 reviews). Klook has a similar medina and souks walk.
Lowest "from" price we saw: Moments in Morocco's Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs and medina tour on GetYourGuide, from $17 (4.7 from 7,946 reviews), against from $17.15 for the same tour on Viator (4.7 from 333 reviews). Viator's listing says entry to the palace and the tombs (100 dirhams each per adult) is extra. Klook has a similar old medina walk.
If you only want to see the garden, the Majorelle Garden entry ticket was from $30 on GetYourGuide (4.5 from 13,695 reviews). We didn't find a comparable listing on Viator.
Food tours
Same "from" price on both sites: A Chef's Tour's Medina Stories food tour on GetYourGuide, from $55 (4.9 from 227 reviews), and the same tour on Viator, from $55.00 (5.0 from 362 reviews). We didn't find it on Klook.
Lowest "from" price we saw: Marrakech Guided Experience's street food tour by night on Viator, from $35.00 (4.5 from 70 reviews), against from $48 for the same listing on GetYourGuide (4.7 from 3,271 reviews). Viator's listing has far fewer reviews. Klook sells a similar street food night tour.
Camel rides in the Palmeraie
Lowest "from" price we saw: Easy Transfers' sunset camel ride on GetYourGuide, from $16 (4.6 from 1,000 reviews), against from $19.44 for the same ride on Viator (4.5 from 18 reviews). The Viator listing has only 18 reviews. Click Excursions' camel ride in the Palmeraie was from $20 on GetYourGuide (4.6 from 5,551 reviews). Klook has a similar sunset camel ride.
Casablanca and the Hassan II Mosque

Fes medina and Chefchaouen

Which tours fit your kind of trip
Eight days, four cities and the desert
One group of three has eight days and wants Rabat, Casablanca, Fes, Marrakech and the road to the desert camps, with stops in small towns along the way. A one-way Marrakech to Fes desert tour ($104) covers the desert, the Atlas and the kasbah towns in three days and drops you in Fes, so you don't have to drive back. In Marrakech, start with a palace, tombs and souks tour ($17). In Casablanca, the Hassan II Mosque visit ($16) takes about 45 minutes to an hour.
A day and a half in Fes for crafts
Another traveler is flying from Marrakech to Fes with a Thursday afternoon and a Friday, and is mostly interested in artisan crafts. A guided walk is the easiest way to find the workshops in the medina: the 3-hour Fes medina walk ($11) or the private Fes medina walk ($24.95). Klook's madrasa, tannery and medina tour includes the tannery. If you've heard the medina is quieter on Fridays, book the walk for Thursday afternoon and keep Friday for the bigger sights.
Hikes and weekend trips with other travelers
Someone else asked for hiking trips with a young, sociable group. Shared day trips are an easy start: the full-day Atlas hike ($23) or Ouzoud Falls with a guided hike ($18). For a weekend, the 3-day Merzouga tour ($130) puts you in a small group with a night at a desert camp.
A first balloon flight
Sunrise flights start with a very early pickup, and Viator's listing for Marrakech Dream Ballooning says flights can be canceled for bad weather, so book one of your first mornings in case you need to rebook. Marrakech Dream Ballooning ($67) on GetYourGuide includes breakfast and pickup. Fit an Agafay desert evening ($21) on another day.
Booking tips
- Match the company name. Ando Travel (Ouzoud), Click Excursions (Ouzoud), Marrakesh Travel Services (Essaouira) and Marrakech City Life (Marrakech to Fes) sell the same tours on both sites, sometimes at quite different prices.
- Don't assume one site is always cheaper. The two big sites split the rows almost evenly. Viator was cheaper for the 2-day Zagora tour and the Hassan II Mosque visit, while GetYourGuide was cheaper for the 3-day Merzouga trip, so check both.
- Compare the same option. Desert trips have different tent levels and balloon listings have different flight options, so a low "from" price on the Fes to Marrakech tour or a balloon listing may be for a different option from the one you want.
- Read the cancellation terms. Every Viator listing we checked, from the balloon flight to the 3-day Merzouga trip, gives a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead.
- Bring cash. Entry fees, lunches and tips are often paid on the day, as on the Bahia Palace tour and the Casablanca day trip.
