Philippines Tours Compared: El Nido, Coron, the Underground River, Boracay, Cebu's Whale Sharks and Canyoneering, Bohol and Manila (Viator vs GetYourGuide vs Klook)
Viator prices and ratings come from Viator's partner data, and GetYourGuide's from its listing pages (two from its search results), all read between about 6:15 and 6:40 PM Pacific time on Oct 25. Some GetYourGuide prices were shown as discounts. Klook blocks automated checks, so we link the Klook listings we found without a price. "From" means the lowest date or option, which can leave out environmental and entrance fees, meals, pickup or tips, and private-tour prices change with group size. Prices are in US dollars as shown; GetYourGuide rounds to the dollar. Always confirm the live price for your dates before you book.
The Philippines came up more than any other destination we haven't covered recently in the past day's travel questions: a couple planning three weeks of diving and island hopping from Manila to Palawan, a couple deciding between day trips and the 3-day Coron to El Nido boat expedition, and a solo traveler adding Manila, Boracay and El Nido to a long Asia trip. Many of the popular tours, from El Nido Tour A to the Oslob whale shark day, are sold by the same local companies on Viator and GetYourGuide, with similar tours on Klook. We matched 19 of them so you can compare before you book.
The short answer
- GetYourGuide had the lowest "from" price in 17 of 19 rows, often by a few dollars when the same company sells on both, for example El Nido Tour A ($24 vs $28) and Coron's Ultimate Tour ($42 vs $50). The biggest gaps were the Panglao dolphin and island-hopping tour ($37 vs $92.60, different companies) and the El Nido to Coron expedition ($311 vs $352.42).
- Viator wasn't cheaper in any row, but tied in 2: the Viva Old Manila! walk ($25) and Abraham Tours' Pagsanjan Falls day ($103). Some of its listings have more inclusions spelled out, like the all-inclusive expedition.
- Klook has a similar tour in all 19 rows, such as El Nido Tour A and the Underground River day, but we couldn't confirm any Klook prices.
What the "from" price leaves out
- Environmental and entrance fees: El Nido Tour A excludes the El Nido eco-tourism fee and the Big Lagoon fee, the Coron Ultimate Tour excludes government fees, and the Underground River trip and Honda Bay tour exclude government fees too. Carry pesos.
- Gear: kayaks at the Big Lagoon and snorkel sets are rented on site on Tour A, Tour C and the Coron tour; they're included on the Oslob and Kawasan day and the Balicasag day.
- Food: lunch is extra on the Bohol countryside tour and the Taal and Pagsanjan 2-in-1; breakfast isn't included on the Oslob day, which runs about 12 hours.
- Cash on the day: the Pagsanjan Falls tour excludes the boatmen fee, and canoe guides on the 2-in-1 expect a tip.

Lowest "from" price we saw: Corazon Travel & Tours' Tour A on GetYourGuide, from $24 (4.4 from 2,006 reviews), against from $28.00 for the same company's Tour A on Viator (4.2 from 94 reviews). Tour A covers the Big Lagoon and Secret Lagoon. Viator's listing includes the boat, guide and lunch, but not the El Nido eco-tourism fee, the Big Lagoon fee, kayak rental or snorkel gear, so bring cash. Klook sells a similar Tour A.

Viator's listing includes all meals, drinks, snorkel gear and beach huts; government fees and tips are extra, and you need to cancel at least 6 days ahead for a full refund. Going the other way, We Are Juan's Coron to El Nido expedition was from $311 on GetYourGuide (4.8 from 168 reviews), and El Nido Adventure Tours' Coron to El Nido trip was from $353.95 on Viator (4.0 from 3 reviews).

For sunset, the sunset cruise with water toys on GetYourGuide was from $15 (4.7 from 329 reviews), against from $16.42 for a very similar sunset cruise on Viator (4.6 from 77 reviews), which lists paddleboards, tubes, snorkel masks, water and alcoholic drinks. The company names are close (MBG Travel and Tours, My Boracay Guide) but we couldn't confirm they're the same. Klook has a short sunset paraw sailing trip instead.

Which tours fit your kind of trip
Three weeks of diving, snorkeling and island hopping
One couple has about three weeks from late November, flying in and out of Manila, and is weighing Cebu, Boracay, Coron, El Nido and Puerto Princesa. In Cebu, the Oslob whale shark and Kawasan day was $122 and the Moalboal sardine run day $129. In Palawan, Coron's Ultimate Tour was $42, El Nido Tour A $24 and the Underground River trip $45. If you're unsure about Boracay, its main tours are short and cheap, like the island-hopping boat tour at $18, so it works as a rest stop rather than a must-do.
One week: Boracay plus the Coron to El Nido expedition
Another couple with a week wants Boracay and the 3-day boat expedition rather than day trips. The El Nido to Coron expedition was $311 on GetYourGuide, and the Coron to El Nido direction costs the same. Add a Boracay sunset cruise ($15) on either end. Before you book, check what happens if weather cancels your departure.
A long solo trip with Manila, Boracay and El Nido
A solo traveler on a two-month Asia trip has a few days each in Manila, Boracay and El Nido. In Manila, the Viva Old Manila! walk ($25) is an easy first morning. Shared boats like El Nido Tour C ($29) and the Boracay island-hopping tour ($18) are good ways to meet people.
Booking tips
- Match the company name. Corazon Travel & Tours (El Nido, Underground River), Psalms Travel Services (Coron) and Mcrich Travel (Oslob) sell the same tours on both sites, and GetYourGuide was a few dollars cheaper each time.
- Check review counts. Several Viator listings, like the expedition and the Boracay island hopping, have only a handful of reviews, while the GetYourGuide versions have hundreds.
- Leave slack for weather. Boat tours in El Nido, Coron and Boracay can be called off in bad weather. Book early days like Tour A near the start of your stay so you can move them.
- Read the cancellation terms. Most listings refund up to 24 hours ahead, but the Kawasan canyoneering trip on Viator is non-refundable and the expedition needs 6 days' notice.
- Price private tours for your group. On private days like the Taal and Pagsanjan 2-in-1 the per-person price drops as your group grows, so compare the total.
