Vienna Tours Compared: Schönbrunn, the Hofburg, Classical Concerts, Christmas Markets and Day Trips to Hallstatt, the Wachau and Budapest (Viator vs GetYourGuide vs Klook)
Viator prices and ratings come from Viator's partner data, and GetYourGuide's from its listing pages, all read between about 6:20 and 6:30 AM Pacific time on Oct 26. Many GetYourGuide prices were shown as discounts. Klook blocks automated checks, so we link the Klook listings we found without a price. "From" means the lowest date, seat category or option, which can leave out meals, pickup, extras or tips. Prices are in US dollars as shown; GetYourGuide rounds to the dollar. Always confirm the live price for your dates before you book.
Vienna came up more than any other destination we haven't covered recently in the past day's travel questions: a family planning a cozy New Year's Eve, a couple looking for a dressy evening of music on a summer trip, and first-timers starting a month in Central Europe. Most of the popular things to book, from the Schönbrunn Palace tour to Vivaldi in Karlskirche and the Hallstatt day trip, are sold by the same companies on Viator and GetYourGuide, often with a similar listing on Klook. We matched 22 of them so you can compare before you book.
The short answer
- GetYourGuide had the lowest "from" price in 18 of 22 rows, usually by a dollar or two when the same company sells on both, like Vivaldi in Karlskirche ($43 vs $43.46). The biggest gaps were the Haus der Musik concert ($23 vs $33.17, different companies), the Classics of Austria concert ($62 vs $78.91) and the Hallstatt day trip ($73 vs $81.43).
- Viator was cheaper in 4 rows: Secret Food Tours ($97.89 vs $127), the coffeehouse and market tour ($135.39 vs $145), the Big Bus ticket ($32.02 vs $37) and the Bratislava and Budapest day ($193.27 vs $209, different companies).
- Klook has a similar listing in 18 of 22 rows, such as the Karlskirche concert and the Wachau and Melk tour, but we couldn't confirm any Klook prices.
What the "from" price leaves out
- Seat categories: concert "from" prices are the cheapest seats. On the Musikverein Mozart concert the program and cloakroom are extra, and the Schönbrunn concert charges for the program (about 10 euros) and cloakroom.
- Seasonal changes: the Wachau and Melk day swaps the Danube boat for Melk Abbey in winter, and the Hallstatt trip skips the Skywalk entrance from Jan 7 to Jan 29, 2027.
- Temporary closures: the Sisi Museum and Hofburg tour leaves out the Sisi Museum until Nov 18, 2026.
- Food and pickup: food isn't included on the Hallstatt and Salzburg day or the Budapest day trip, and most city tours, like the Schönbrunn tour, don't include hotel pickup.

Viator's listing includes the guide, skip-the-line entry and headsets; food and hotel pickup are extra. Klook sells the same company's palace and gardens tour.
In the city center, Rosotravel's Sisi Museum, Hofburg and gardens tour on GetYourGuide was from $54 (4.8 from 8,036 reviews), against from $54.89 for the same tour on Viator (4.5 from 526 reviews). Viator's listing says the Sisi Museum is left out of the 2-hour tour while it's temporarily closed, from Oct 6 to Nov 18, 2026, so check before you book for November. Klook has a similar Sisi Museum and Hofburg tour.
Next door, the Spanish Riding School's own 55-minute guided tour was from $27 on GetYourGuide (4.7 from 7,945 reviews). It covers the Winter Riding School and the Lipizzaner stables. We didn't find it on Viator; Klook sells a similar Spanish Riding School tour.
First day: a walk, a bike tour or the bus
Lowest "from" price we saw: YouOnTour Vienna's 2-hour highlights and hidden gems walk on GetYourGuide, from $27 (4.8 from 4,302 reviews), against from $30.88 for the same company's city center walk on Viator (4.8 from 351 reviews). Klook sells a similar 2-hour city center walk.
Pedal Power Vienna's Classic Vienna 3-hour bike tour on GetYourGuide was from $55 (4.7 from 2,570 reviews), against from $56.04 for the same tour on Viator (4.6 from 661 reviews), which includes the bike and the guide. Klook has a similar inner-city bike tour.
The bus is the one row where Viator wins: the Big Bus hop-on hop-off ticket on Viator was from $32.02 (4.0 from 1,850 reviews), against from $37 for the same ticket on GetYourGuide (4.4 from 4,180 reviews). Klook sells the same Big Bus ticket.
The Giant Ferris Wheel
Lowest "from" price we saw: the Riesenrad ticket on GetYourGuide, from $16 (4.5 from 8,651 reviews), against from $16.58 for the same ticket on Viator (3.7 from 324 reviews). Klook sells a skip-the-line Ferris Wheel ticket. The difference is small, so book wherever you already have an account.
Church concerts: St. Peter's and Karlskirche

Classic Ensemble Vienna's St. Peter's Church concert on GetYourGuide was from $44 (4.7 from 5,578 reviews), against from $44.60 for the same concert on Viator (4.7 from 2,472 reviews). Over the holidays the ensemble plays a Christmas and New Year's concert, from $55 on GetYourGuide (4.6 from 768 reviews), against from $56.04 on Viator (4.6 from 157 reviews). Klook sells the ensemble's regular ticket. The "from" price is usually the cheapest seats, so check which section you're getting.
Palace and concert-hall evenings

GetYourGuide's listing says the basic version includes Melk Abbey in winter (from Nov 4) but no boat, while in summer you get the Danube boat but not Melk. Klook sells a similar Wachau and Melk tour.
For wine, Vienna Explorer's small-group Wachau wine tasting day on GetYourGuide was from $223 (4.7 from 455 reviews), against from $227.58 for the same tour on Viator (4.8 from 652 reviews), in an 8-seat vehicle. The same company's Wachau wine tasting bike tour was from $154.39 on Viator (4.8 from 871 reviews).
Budapest and Bratislava in a day
Lowest "from" price we saw: TrailTales' Bratislava and Budapest day trip on Viator, from $193.27 (4.6 from 198 reviews), with pickup from your hotel or apartment and the option to finish in Budapest. GetYourGuide's closest match, a Bratislava and Budapest guided day trip by a different company, was from $209 (4.8 from 1,073 reviews). Klook sells a similar Budapest and Bratislava day.
Vienna Sightseeing Tours' Budapest day trip with a Bratislava photo stop was from $140 on GetYourGuide (4.2 from 285 reviews), against from $147.19 on Viator (3.7 from 726 reviews). Klook has a private Budapest day trip.
Which tours fit your kind of trip
A family New Year's Eve with teenagers
One family of four is coming for New Year's Eve and loves architecture, museums and cafes. The Christmas and New Year's concert in St. Peter's Church ($55) and the Schönbrunn Orangery concert ($65) are cozy indoor evenings. By day, the Schönbrunn tour ($64) and the Spanish Riding School tour ($27) cover the imperial side, and the coffeehouse and market tour ($135.39) covers the cafes. If you want snow, the Hallstatt day trip ($73) heads into the Alps.
A summer trip with a dressy night of music
Another traveler is planning a summer trip and wants an evening to dress up for. Vienna's balls are mostly in winter, but concerts run all year. The Mozart concert in historical costumes at the Musikverein ($77) is the most formal. The Classics of Austria evening in the Strauss Hall ($62) adds a sparkling wine reception. Pair either with a Wachau Valley day ($133), which includes the Danube boat in summer.
First time in Central Europe by train
A first-timer is spending a month between Prague, Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest by train. Since you'll see Bratislava and Budapest on your own, use Vienna for things that are harder to do alone: a 2-hour highlights walk ($27) on day one, the 3-hour bike tour ($55), and a Wachau wine day ($223) or Hallstatt and Salzburg ($112).
A month in Vienna on your own
For a long solo stay, group tours are an easy way to meet people. Try Secret Food Tours ($97.89) or the Christmas markets walk ($80) in season. Concerts like Vivaldi in Karlskirche ($43) cost little more than a night out.
Booking tips
- Match the company name. Good Vienna Tours (Schönbrunn), Classic Ensemble Vienna (St. Peter's), 7 Travel (Hallstatt) and Vienna Sightseeing Tours (Wachau) sell the same tours on both sites, and GetYourGuide was a little cheaper each time.
- Don't assume one site is always cheaper. Viator was cheaper for Secret Food Tours and the Big Bus, so check both.
- Book holiday concerts early. The Christmas and New Year's concert at St. Peter's and the Schönbrunn Orangery concert are sold by seat section, so book early if you want seats near the front.
- Read the cancellation terms. Every Viator listing we checked, from the Ferris Wheel ticket to the Wachau wine day, gives a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead.
- Plan day trips around the weather. Long days like Hallstatt and Salzburg spend most of the time on the road, so keep a spare day in case snow or ice changes your plans.
