Japan in November: Best-Value Tours Compared (Viator vs GetYourGuide vs Klook)
The booking sites block automated price checks, so we read the prices from search-engine copies of each listing. For most rows only the search engine's summary of the page was available, so treat those prices and ratings as rough, and some copies may be older than our check date. "From" means the lowest date or option, and Japanese tickets often change price by date. Prices are in the currency the page showed. Always confirm the live price for your dates before you book.
Japan trip-planning threads have been full of itineraries for the coming weeks: first-timers with two to three weeks between Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, an eight-day Kansai trip in November, a family travelling with a toddler and grandparents, and couples planning anniversary trips. The day trips and experiences they ask about — a Mt Fuji day tour, teamLab Planets, a Shinjuku bar-hopping night, a Kyoto and Nara day tour, Hakone, a sumo show, Universal Studios Japan, a Kyoto tea ceremony and Hiroshima and Miyajima — are sold on Viator, GetYourGuide and Klook, sometimes by the same operator at different prices. We matched the most popular versions so you can compare before you book.
The short answer
- Klook had the lowest US-dollar "from" price in 8 of 9 rows, including the most-reviewed Mt Fuji day tour (about US$50.95), teamLab Planets (from US$23.99), a Kyoto and Nara day trip (about US$44.79), a Hakone and Fuji day tour (from about US$44.29) and Universal Studios Japan (from US$59.40).
- GetYourGuide was cheapest in 1: the Hiroshima and Miyajima day trip by bullet train from Osaka (from $95, was $119). It was also within a few dollars on the Mt Fuji ropeway tour (from $53), and its sumo show price was shown in euros (from €90).
- Viator wasn't cheapest in any row this time, but it had the most reviews for the MagicalTrip Shinjuku bar-hopping tour (4.9 from 2,999).
- Same operator, different price: MagicalTrip's bar-hopping tour was about US$117.35 on Klook and about $125.28 on Viator; Camellia's tea ceremony was from $32 on GetYourGuide and about $39.50 on Viator.
Touring Japan in late autumn
- Fall colors around Mt Fuji: one Klook Mt Fuji day tour adds the Lake Kawaguchiko autumn-leaves corridor from November 1 to 30 (subject to official notice), and its page says Fuji is generally harder to see in summer than in the colder months. Clouds can still hide the mountain on any day, so keep a spare day if the Fuji view matters most.
- Long bus days: the same Klook Fuji tour page notes that Japanese law limits commercial vehicles to 10 hours, so traffic can shorten stops. Day trips like Hakone and Kyoto and Nara run about 9 to 11 hours.
- Busy season in Kyoto: Camellia's own site lists November as a peak month for its tea ceremony (¥5,000 for a shared session, up from ¥4,000 off-peak). Book a Kyoto day tour or ceremony early in the season.
- Timed tickets: teamLab Planets and Universal Studios Japan tickets are for a set date (and, at teamLab, a set entry time), and several resellers don't refund them.

Notes: prices were read on Oct 20, 2026 in the currency shown; "was" is the struck-through price shown next to a sale price, and "about" means the price came from a search engine's summary of the page rather than the page text. Rows with different operators can differ in group size, stops, and what's included (entry tickets, cruise or ropeway fares, lunch, bullet-train tickets), so read the inclusions before picking the cheapest.
Best-value picks by activity
A Mt Fuji day tour
Lowest "from" price we saw: Klook's Mount Fuji Magnificent Scenery day tour, about US$50.95 and the most reviewed by far (4.9 from 12.3K), with Arakurayama Sengen Park, Oishi Park, Oshino Hakkai and the Lawson photo stop. Another Klook Fuji tour with lunch showed US$56.79 for every date from Oct 20 to 26.
Want the ropeway? GetYourGuide's Kawaguchiko ropeway tour was from $53 (4.6 from 240), with a matcha-making stop and free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. On Viator, a 10-hour Fuji sightseeing tour was from about $69.72 and a Kawaguchiko bus tour about $85.42 (4.3 from 566). The pagoda viewpoint at Arakurayama means climbing almost 400 steps, per Klook's tour page.
teamLab Planets
It's the same timed ticket everywhere. Lowest "from" price we saw: Klook, from US$23.99 (some October and November slots from US$26.49), 4.7 from 21.8K. GetYourGuide was from about $26–27 (4.6 from about 14,600); it's non-refundable, needs ID, can't be bought for the same day, and you must enter within the first 30 minutes of your slot. Viator's ticket (4.6 from 379) is also non-refundable; we couldn't see its price. Reviewers mention walking barefoot through water, so wear clothes you can roll up.
A Shinjuku bar-hopping night
MagicalTrip's 3-hour tour through Omoide Yokocho, Kabukicho and Golden Gai includes dinner, drinks at three bars and all-you-can-drink at one. It was about US$117.35 on Klook (4.8 from 100) and about $125.28 on Viator (4.9 from 2,999), where free cancellation runs up to 24 hours before. You must be 20 or older. For something smaller, a 2-hour Golden Gai bar crawl on GetYourGuide was about £74, with only 5 reviews so far and later drinks paid in cash.
Kyoto and Nara in a day
Lowest "from" price we saw: Klook's Kyoto–Nara day trip to Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari and Nara Park, about US$44.79; the return doesn't stop in Kyoto. Best reviewed: Japan Visionary Tour's Nara, Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama bus tour on GetYourGuide, from $51 (was $79), 4.8 from 3,643, though reviewers say the schedule is packed. Viator's Ancient Capital Tour swaps in Kinkaku-ji and Todai-ji, from about $91.17 (4.6 from about 300), with a lot of walking.
Hakone
Lowest "from" price we saw: Klook's Hakone and Fuji day tour with Hakone Shrine, the Lake Ashi pirate ship, the ropeway, Owakudani, Lake Yamanaka and Oshino Hakkai, from about US$44.29 (up to US$63.79 by date and package), 4.8 from about 8,000. The copy we found says the ¥1,700 pirate-ship fare may be paid separately, depending on the package. GetYourGuide's 8-hour Hakone tour was from $55 (was $92, 4.8 from 71) with the ropeway included and the cruise extra, and a 10-hour version from $66. Viator's Hakone tour with a bullet-train return cost the most, from about $110 (4.0 from 14). Weather can stop the ropeway, so check what each tour does if it does.
A sumo show
The Asakusa show with retired wrestlers, a geisha dance and all-you-can-eat chicken chanko hot pot is sold on all three. Lowest US-dollar price we saw: Klook, from US$101.25 for standard seats (front row from US$126.35). GetYourGuide showed from €90 (4.8 from about 8,590) and Viator from about US$114.92 (4.8 from 837). Reviewers say it's fun and family-friendly, but more entertainment than a serious match.
Universal Studios Japan
One-day Studio Pass prices change by date. Lowest "from" price we saw: Klook, from US$59.40. GetYourGuide was from $76 (4.4–4.5), non-refundable, with the official QR code emailed at least 24 hours ahead. Viator's 1 Day Studio Pass was about $105–107. GetYourGuide's ticket doesn't include an Express Pass, and Super Nintendo World needs a separate timed entry through the park app or an Express Pass.
A Kyoto tea ceremony
Camellia runs the same 45-minute ceremony on two sites: from $32 on GetYourGuide (4.8 from about 585, free cancellation up to 24 hours) and about $39.50 on Viator (4.8 from 196). You whisk your own matcha and get seasonal sweets. Lowest price we saw: a one-hour Gion tea ceremony on Klook, about US$25.29–28.65 (4.9 from about 100), with chair seating instead of kneeling.
Hiroshima and Miyajima
Lowest "from" price we saw: GetYourGuide's guided day trip from Osaka, from $95 (was $119), 4.8 from 380, with lunch and, on the Osaka option, round-trip bullet-train tickets. Some reviewers wanted more time at the Peace Museum. JTB's 13-hour tour on Viator was from about $420.17 (4.5 from 105) and includes the bullet train, Peace Memorial Museum entry and the Miyajima visitor tax, but not lunch. Klook's 11.5-hour bullet-train day trip showed no price in the copy we found.
Which tours fit your kind of trip
First trip, two to three weeks across Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka
From Tokyo, choose one Fuji day: the classic Kawaguchiko tour (about US$50.95) or the Hakone and Fuji combo (from about US$44.29). Book teamLab Planets for a rainy afternoon. From Osaka, a Hiroshima and Miyajima day trip (from $95) saves working out the bullet train and ferry yourself.
Travelling with a toddler and grandparents
Skip the 10-hour coach days and the 400 steps on the pagoda Fuji tours. Shorter bookings work better: the sumo show with lunch is about two hours and family-friendly, and Klook's Gion tea ceremony uses chairs. If you do one long day out, the Kyoto–Nara day trip (about US$44.79) covers Nara's deer park and Fushimi Inari; it's a 9-to-11-hour day, so it suits older kids better than toddlers.
Anniversaries and honeymoons
Spend an evening on the Shinjuku bar-hopping tour (dinner included) and a slow Kyoto morning at Camellia's tea ceremony (from $32). If you want a Fuji day with more in it, the ropeway and matcha tour (from $53) is a good one, and in November you may catch the autumn leaves around Kawaguchiko.
A week or so in Kansai
Base yourself in Osaka or Kyoto. Do Nara, Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama in a day (from $51), spend a day at Universal Studios Japan (from US$59.40; prices vary by date), and use a spare day for Hiroshima and Miyajima.
Booking tips
- Check refunds on tickets. The teamLab Planets tickets on GetYourGuide and Viator and the GetYourGuide Universal Studios ticket are non-refundable. Many of the guided day tours here allow free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead.
- Read what "included" means. On Hakone tours, the Lake Ashi cruise is extra on GetYourGuide's cheapest one and on some Klook packages. Lunch is optional on most Fuji tours.
- Watch the currency. Pages showed USD, EUR and GBP. The GetYourGuide sumo show was priced in euros and the Golden Gai crawl in pounds, so set your currency before you compare.
- Match the operator name when you can. MagicalTrip (Shinjuku bar hopping), Camellia (tea ceremony) and the Asakusa sumo club (sumo show) sell the same product on more than one site, and the cheapest total for your date wins.
- Read the email the night before. Coach tours like Klook's Fuji photo-spots tour send the guide and bus details the evening before, and won't refund you if you miss the bus after changing your meeting point.
